Ripoff

I received a phone call from what seemed to sound like an asian woman. She told me that she was calling from the U.S. Government, and that they selected me to receive a grant for $10,000.00. She told me that I would receive the money in my checking account the very next day and that in 2 days I would be receiving $500.00 worth in food tickets. That sounds great right? So I gave her my information. Routing number, checking account number, and then she had me do this Yes/No questionaire. Since the voice recording sounded like an American accent, I figured it was for a sure thing.

Well the asian lady told me that I will be paying a total of $49.95. And I then said that I didn't have that kind of money in my account. She said, "No Ma'am, you will not be charged until after you receive the grant money" So then I agreed. Well 3 days went by and I kept checking my account, and nothing. Then on the fourth day, I checked my account and I was charged $49.95. I reviewed the check (that I did not sign) and I found an 800 number on it. So I called it and they gave me the run around, I asked to speak the management and she told me that "they're all in a meeting" and then I asked if when they would be next available... And she said, "actually no one can help you and I will investigate your request to be reimburst. We do however have the recording of your conversation." Well, I haven't heard anything, so I called again today and talked to the administration office and I told them my situation and he hung up on me. I'm a college student, broke as can be, living with my parents and the ten thousand sounded really good to me. What would you have done?
