Ripoff! Land sharks in texas

Seven yrs. Ago we re-financed w / UC Lending. The interest rate was terrible, but we we didn't think we had any other options. When UC went under our mortgage was sold to EMC. That was the start of a bad relationship.

First they didn't pay our land taxes which were being held in Escrol. When I found out several months after they were due that they hadn't been paid I made the first of several calls to EMC regarding the matter. I heard "Well shoot, out here in Texas we don't have those kind of taxes." My reply was "Well shoot mam, back here in NY, if you don't pay your land taxes they take your house away!" Finally, after several conversations, they paid them.

Three yrs. Ago my husband and I split up and I was left holding the bag. The mortgage was in his name even though the deed was in both our names, and I was making the payments, but EMC refused to speek to me until I could get him to sign a paper stating that I had permission to handle all matters. They have been extremely rude to me on many occasions. One of them even went as far as to scold me and tell me that I couldn't possibly afford to keep my childrens home and that I ought to turn it over to EMC.

Last Dec. W / no child support coming in and working 2 jobs a friend gave enough money to make 2 payments so I wouldn't lose the house. I tried to contact EMC and got no where and the next day was X-Mas so they were closed. When I finally got them on the phone they said it was too late, that they had put the house into forclosure. They said that if I sent them $1700 by Western Union by that night they would send me a Forclosure Agreement. This wonderful agreement raised my payment from $800 to $934/mo. I had 2 days to get my ex to sign the agreement and fax it back. Also, I was no longer allowed to send checks or to use a debit card, which would save me the $12 it costs for a Western Union. Also they added more than $2000 to cover legal fees.

A few months later I was running short and called to ask them if I could have a couple extra days. Of course I didn't get to speak to a human and had to leave a message. They sent me a letter saying that they would be glad to give me a deferral if I had the payment in by a certain date. Five days before the payment was due they put me into forclosure again. Another $2000. This has been a nightmare.

Yesterday I received a letter from them - addressed to my ex, of course, saying that they were willing to give us a modification and lower the payment to $879. But in order to except this I must come up w / another $934.92 in 5 days. When I tried to contact them today, I spent 53 minutes on hold before I hung up and googled them to find an email address for the company. I found this site instead. Thank you.

I thought I was the only one, no one I know has ever heard of EMC. Now I know that I'm not alone. They're screwing alot of us to the wall, and it's about time EMC found out what it feels like! Good luck to you all!
