Rewards 660 Visa -Total Card
Rewards 660 Visa - Total Card Unfair Debt Collection Practices, ripoff payment

Business & Finance

This card at first glance appears to be very good for rebuilding credit, you make a 250 opening payment on the card balance. The card DOES arrive in the mail, and it DOES work. Activating, and recieving the card, is not a ripoff or scam. However, what IS in this case, a ripoff/scam is when in my case my ex-roomate submitted a payment on my card to pay me because he missed the rent the prior month. He moved out shortly thereafter, and reported the check paid as lost/stolen.

This card company refuses to work with me resolve the situation. I have made repeated offers to settle the balance with my own checking account, they insist however, that I submit a money order. I tell them I have no vehicle to reach a money order location, and no credit card to submit a money order online.

I tell them I signed up for this card because their website explicitly states that I may pay via checks online. After several discussions with people representing themselves as 'rewards 660/total card inc' employees, the last of which was a heated discussion, the woman on the other end let slip that she is NOT an employee of the card company but is really a debt collection agency on BEHALF of the card company.

She initially called and identified herself as a employee of the card company attempting to determine if my payment was late. She was not only VERY misleading, bordering on an outright lie, but as she IS truly a debt collector, in a collection agency, she is in violation of the fair debt collection practices act with this deception. She failed to identify herself as a collector, and failed to read the required statement of 'This is an attempt to collect a debt, therefore any information obtained will be used for that purpose.'

This is a clear violation of the Fair debt collection practices act, and then she has the audacity to blatantly lie once discovered, telling me that she is not required to read such a statement and even that she did say 'what company she works for.' Which is either another lie, or if she DOES work for the card company it is NOT as a 'friend from customer service making sure your payment is on time.'

Though this card company may work for those who NEVER have an issue with their payment, anyone who plans to not be the only person to submit payments on their card, such as a college student, or people with roomates whose rent is late sometimes should most certainly refrain from using this card, they will block you, and lie to you, and they will not stop harrasing you. If anyone has information on how these harrasing calls can be stopped, esp. Since they are decietful, please tell me so that I can get these wolves in sheeps clothing off my back!
