Capital Financial
Many Other Aka's Listed. A repeat of a common scam RIPOFF

Business & Finance

I recieved a call today from someone named 'Chris' from a 'capital financial' offering me a credit card with a limit of 2000 dollars, and after one payment was made, a cash advance limit of 1000. He said this card was to 'rebuild or establish credit' which sent off warning bells then and there, what with the other similar reports on this website. Also, an unsecured card, for rebuilding credit, with a 2000 dollar limit?

I inquired with him as to a way to verify his company, and informed him that I had been scammed with similar offers before. He suggested that I go to the better business bureau website, at www.bbb.org and lookup his company there. It was listed as being in Largo Florida, along with an HSBC for which i forget where they are from. I had heard of this HSBC before somewhere, and he said they had been around for a long time, now I am young, yet not gullibe, but since I have heard of HSBC before a while back, I figured nothing could be wrong.

Until I proceeded to begin ordering the card.in a fashion very similar to previous scams, he verified that my bank account was open and valid, and transfered me to a woman named 'Dawn' to verify the details.'Dawn' connected me to a recording, which sounded so similar to prior scams.

Luckily halfway through the 'verificaton' process, and just as she asked for my SSN (which I would not have given anyays) the call was disconnected. I had the customer service number given in case we were 'disconnected' and when I called back, there was a menu of options, however the one for speaking to a customer service rep got me the same ' no one is here to take your call at this time, please leave a message and someone will get back to you' from prior scams.

This time I did not get any info about a phone card, but after contacting the phone card company from prior scams, and the letters that myself and my attourney sent, its no suprise a calling card company claiming to be legitimate would stop parterning with a scam artist company. Whether pro-tel was actually legit is questionable. The number for these people is 888-281-6710, which curiously does not pull up off of any reverse phone number sites I have tried.

I am both warning people of what I believe is a new variant of the same scam, and asking if any other consumers have recieved similar telephone calls from these people? I am located in the Dallas TX area, and im curious to see how far this scam reaches across the country?
