Scam collection for non-existant bill Ripoff

I have been having a back-and-forth discussion with this company for several months. They are trying to collect for a bill they say my wife owed before we were married.

The bill was supposedly for American Water Heater Rentals, but although my wife did have one of their water heaters, she had it removed over a year before she moved, she didn't owe anything at that time and AWHR has NEVER tried to collect. CBCS says the final bill was around $31, but they are trying to collect more than $383.

Even during 'negotiations', they began a series of harrassing phone calls, sometimes as many as four times in one night and then they hung up when I answered.in order to get them to stop these phone calls, I offered a much reduced amount. They say they contacted AWHR and they refused.

I asked them to put that refusal in writing and was told that they never do anything in writing... That was when I became aware that this was a scam operation, and a very good one at that. I bet they are making many thousands of dollars from those that they can intimidate.

I asked them to put me into direct contact with AWHR, or to hook us all together on a conference call, and they refused that as well.

I have found AWHR's actual contact information and I am going to visit them in person to discuss this.

I am also going to contact the Ohio State Attorney General to report CBCS's obviously illegal activities.

I will update this posting when these tasks have been accomplished.
