Trying to collect on dismissed debt, ripoff

Merchant's Credit Guide as a collector for Asset Acceptance has contacted my husband twice about a debt that was dismissed in a bankrupcy with ex-wife over 10 years ago.

Just to be safe I checked his credit report this morning and sure enough the debt had been reaged to be a 2003 debt even though he has the bankrupcy files to prove it was dismissed, the bankrupcy itself has disappeared from his record.

We plan to dispute this on every level. As far as I can tell everything these two companies has done is illegal. None of the reports I've read deal with debts that were dismissed due to bankrupcy, so any advise or information would be helpful.
