Don't trust them, keep paperwork, and check your credit reports Ripoff

After purchasing a house, I ran behind on a Providian credit card debt of $1000.00. NCO Dogged me constantly. After getting back on my feet, I called them for a payoff balance and sent it to them 9 months ago. I have not heard a peep from them either by phone or mail since then. On a whim, I received credit reports from the 3 main reporting agencies and have found that NCO has been reporting me delinquent for 9 months on a $15.00 (two agencies say $16.00) balance. I disputed this with the Credit Bureaus only to have them respond with "The creditor has verified the debt."

For anyone out there doing business with NCO, Don't do electronic banking. It's to hard to maintain a paper trail. For $15.00 this company has been screwing me for 9 months without my knowledge. If I "really" owed them the money, I'm sure their dogs would have been on me! I can easily send them the lousy $15 or 16 dollars, but they impacted my credit.

They are truly scum.
