Ripoff, unreasonable rates, totally unwilling work with debtors

We have desperately been trying to payoff our Emerge account for several years now, but it is impossible to pay down the balance at 29.9% interest and any extra fees they decide to throw in. We have tried and "begged" them to work with us to help us pay down the balance.

They are driving us to bankruptcy. We tried doing credit counseling, but they would not even consider working with the company. They just continued to add late fees an interest and we ended up owing substantially more than when we began.

I tried calling them and writing letters and I just get the some answer... That there's nothing they can do... Now where's your payment. What can I do to get this monkey off our back? I tried transferring the balance, but of course no one will touch it.

Who else could i appeal to. We want to pay off the card but at this rate we will never be able to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Or any other contact info. For this company.
