Changes loan papers after loan closed, supplies paid in full documents without honoring them ripoff

I used their mortgage to payoff other debts. They supplied me with a document in the loan closing stating an account had been paid in full.

2 years later I had a garnishment filed against my wages because the lien the company held had been released, but the account was not paid in full.

I am having to settle for the balance of the loan after paying over $1000 to an attorney.

The attorneys advise was settle because I could not afford to fight Ameriquest.
