FCNB Newport News Credit Card ripoff - Charged Undue Late Fees - Sent NO Bills

I was sent a Newport News credit card (Backed by FCNB) It was nothing but TROUBLE since the day I got it. They sent bills every now and then at first and then stop sending bills all together. I got a notice that the financial institution that had once handeled Newport News cards had not renewed their contract or something with Newport News and that they had closed all consumer accounts.

Any of the information I used to try and contact them at this point and points in the recent past to this didn't work... Numbers disconnected etc. They FINALLY contacted me to pay the bill cause they said it was 90 days past due in actuallity I had not received a bill from them in over 6 months and had made several attempts to contact them. I attained information about where to send the check etc but forgot to get my account number.

I THANKFULLY had called ID and was able to call them back. Literally 5 minutes after they called me. The person I spoke with transferred me because they "Couldn't find me in the system", the next person couldn't find me either and then trasferred me to yet another person. I was so frustrated and couldn't get simple information from a company that wanted my money which I to some degree rightfully owed them (less late fees and over limit fees acquired during the time they sent no bills and couldn't be contacted).

NO ONE there could help me I, according to them "Should just wait until I got another call from them which would be in about 7 - 10 days once they realized the payment had not been made". Which I did because I had incomplete information and god knows if they couldn't "Find Me" when I called what were they going to do with my check??? LONG story LONGER they never did resume sending any bills. Along about the same time I started working with a lender to obtain a loan for a swimming pool and OF COURSE this charge account shows up on my credit report and states something to the effect "closed at request of consumer" and a few 90 days past due... Hmmm Imagine that why would I have thought any differently nothing was EVER as it seemed with this scam corp. I did use the amount it stated on my credit report (right or wrong) to pay off the account... We'll see what happens now in this LONG DRAWN OUT SAGA... Yikes!!!
