Ameriquest mortgage company fradulent / predatory lending

We refinanced our home with ameriquest in 2000. We allege there was misrepresentation from the begining. We were hurried into signing the documents, were told that the only way we could secure the loan was to have a second mortgage with their "sister" company (at the time the associates, now city financial). From about 6 months into our loan things went down hill. Two checks meant to pay back taxes were never cashed (long story first made out incorrectly, than sent for a check exchange these have NEVER been explained nothing credited to our account). The payments keep changing and doubling to keep our "escrow account current". No one can give me an adequate explantion of why.

The county tells me our taxes are current, never more than $2000 per year yet ameriquest wants over $4000 in the escroe account. Something is not right. Each time we get close to refinancing with someone else it seems ameriquest does something to cancel the deal. Yes we are a credit risk but we need some help in dealing with ameriquests predatory lending practices a 14.025% interest rate is insane in this day. Can't someone help us?
