Ripoff - Deceiving, Fraudent, Stole money out of my account! DO NOT give them any of your info!

I got a call one evening from them telling me that they had approved me for a Visa. They said they did not do credit checks, and the only requirement was that I was employed for a year or more in the same place, and had a checking account in good standing. They went on to state that they reported to credit agencies regularly to help their costumers reestablish their credit. Being in the position I am in with my credit, it was easy to fall for this.

Then they asked me for my bank account number. This instantly set offf alarms. They explained that they would take 200.00 out of my checking account, and that I would be given payment coupons for that amount. I went ahead and gave them my info, against my better judgement.
After hanging up, and having time to reflect, I decided to do some digging.

I found this website, and started reading. Deciding to play dumb and not alarm them, thinking it would make them a little more cooperative, I called them back the same evening. I spoke with someone named Chris, whom I had also spoken to earlier (2 hours prior). I informed him that in going over my checkbook, I realized that I had less money in my account than I realized. I asked him to please cancel my payment, and that I would call back in a few weeks to reactivate and to make my payment. Of course, I had no intention of doing so. He took my name, phone number, and the pin number they had assigned me fown, and assured me that the transaction would be canceled and that he looked forward to hearing from me soon. I'll bet!!!

I was not convinced that they would do the right thing, so I covered my but, and put a stop payment on my account the very next morning.

Today is Saturday 1/29/05. I got the phone call on the 26th. The stop payment with my bank on the 27th. And of course, my money was still withdrawn on the 28th. Had to transfer 200 from my savings into checking so that checks would not bounce. Called the bank and explained that this was not authorized, since I called the company and canceled. Now I have to wait until MOnday to fill out an affidavit and dispute this. Will keep you posted!
