US Bank
US Bank, Charged $2000.00 in two years, for overdraft fees - Accounts

Business & Finance

I just recently closed 4 accounts at US Bank. Three personal and one Business, and now took my accounts back to Bank of America. I am convinced that US Bank, has no interest in helping individuals with their basic banking needs, but rather would like to take as much money as they can via service fees and hidden charges.

I banked with BofA for 12 years, and never had 1/10th of the problems I faced with US bank.

I am not exaggerating when I say I have paid US bank $2000.00 in random fees in the span of 2 years. They are master of justifying random fees.

Here is an example.

I wrote two checks, two weeks ago. I had a balance of $20.00 in my account. The checks were written for $12.00 and $100.00. Both checks cleared the same day, and my account went negative.US bank charged me 2 x $36.00 dollar returned check fee's. I questioned the teller. Why didn't you cash the $12.00 check first, then the nsf would have only 1 $36.00 fee. Reply: "That's just how our computer does it." Who programs your computer???

The NSF was my fault, but ironically, even that was a US BAnk oversite. I transferred in funds on 9/25. At that point the balance stated $20.00 positive plus $200.00 funds. I checked on the account on 9/26 and expected to see a $220.00 dollar credit.instead I see two $36.00 fees because they retroactively debited my account on 9/24 for the two checks!!! Amazing!!! Despite my account being positive on 9/24,9/25 and 9/26.. Somehow US bank went back in time, and cashed the checks totally ignoring the positive balance in my account. How is this possible? I tell the teller that my account was positive with the transfer... To that, they give the typical endless stare that is found in employees conditioned to safeguard the keys to any suspect organization, else they loose their job...

I have countless stories like this that add up to $2000.00!!! 80% are the banks errors! And I will gladly show the 20% that are my own. Ultimately I should have closed my account 3 months into opening them and been $2000.00 richer. But I was outwitted by the US Bank Organization.

I will make efforts to continue my recap of the $2000.00 wrongfully charged fees.

When I did close my account this was the conversation:

"So, what's the deal? You closing this account cause of fees?" The teller asks...
My thoughts, wow... That is an extremely unprofessional way to ask a business question...
"So what's the deal?" Are we back in highschool?

Do not open a US Bank account especially in Southern California. Temecula.

My final question to the bank, "Can you send me my paper statements for record keeping.." Their reply: "sure, for $6.00 a statement" My question, "will I be able to view my accounts online any more" Their Reply: "No"

I am convinced based off their actions that, US Bank has no interest in public welfare. Their main goal is to take as much money as possible from the middle class and charge bogus fees. BEWARE, and avoid this bank at all costs. You will regret banking with them!!
