Don't sign up for the $150 bonus, because you won't get it - Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend

With almost all else being equal among online banks, I signed up because of the $150 new account bonus. After setting up auto bill-pay and direct deposit as required by the Ts&Cs, I waited patiently for 60 days for my bonus. I called after two months to make sure, and they said the bonus code hadn't been correctly applied to my account, and they'd have to add it, and the "clock would reset" to zero.

A month and a half later (in April), I called again and they said the code was applied correctly and all conditions were met, and if I didn't have the money by early June, to call back. Called back June 11 and now they're saying my account didn't qualify (note: it did) and they have no record of my call in April (I do, my cell phone bill has a 20-minute call to their 800 number on 4/13). CSR refused to escalate, offered to take my number and call back in 10 days with the reason my account didn't qualify. Like I said, not good enough.

I'm headed to Perkstreet. It may not be $150 up front, but it's 1% on non-pin purchases. So I'll get to $150, it just may take a while. And I'm pretty sure I'll get my money from them, unlike PNC.

Also, CSR was a jerk and actually suggested I was a liar (more than once). I really want to identify him by name, but I'm trying to have some restraint. Bottom line, banking is not a "Buy 10 Get One Free" punch card for coffee. It's my MONEY, and I'd really like to trust the people who watch over it. I don't trust PNC at all. If you say you'll give someone a new account bonus, you should give it to them if they qualify. It's really that simple. You can fudge a little when you work at Subway, but this is a bank. Tools are fine, but if you can't trust your bank, find a new bank.
