Unfair Finance Charges Interest fraud and dishonest communication

Similar to the experience above, I have had an ongoing finance charge accural although my account was fully paid months ago.

I have had two accounts with BankOne for many years. Recently they increased my APR to 28.99% claiming it to be the result of poor credit reports and late payments. This information was incorrect and I followed up with each credit reporting agency to verify, and contacted BankOne with my findings, which were ignored. I also informed them that for the same time period I had been contacted by two of my other credit card companies to inform me they had increased my credit line due to my excellent credit history.

In the mean time, I received several mail offers from them for very low APR credit cards. When I called them to have my interest rate lowered and refute their credit assessment, I was refused.

At that time I asked that both accounts be closed and paid off the full balance due.

The next month I got additional statements indicating that there were "finance charges" that were unpaid and had accrued. I immediately paid those as well.

The following month I received yet another statement indicated accrued finance charges on the previously accrued finance charges and that my APR was 179.64%!

At this rate they make it impossible to pay off your balance by adding charges after the payoff, and they continue to accrue unjustified charges after providing a payoff figure.

In communicating with them they insist that you do so in writing pertaining to credit history, and they will not deal with anything over the telephone that does not relate to your current info or payment.
