I was working with a loan officer to try to refinance my current mortgage. He asked for a credit card number to lock in a specific interest rate, however I had not yet decided to proceed with the mortgage. I never signed anything and I specifically told them not to charge anything to my card (actually a debit card). I was assured nothing would move forward and until I signed and returned some documents. Two days later, a $500 charge for an appraisal came through my checking account. It took me 2 days to trace it back to Dominion Capital and it took them 9 days to credit the money back to my account.in the meantime, I had over $100 in overdraft charges because of the unexpected $500 withdrawal. I did NOT get that money back.
