Cheque for Rs 11050 couriered to a stranger in Hyderabad

Sir,

I have an account in Hyderabad. On 1st Jan, cheque no 158025 for Rs 11050 got dishonored due to a post date issue. I shifted from Hyderabad to Bangalore, so I contacted the Citibank customer care officer, and they told me the cheque was with them only. I requested them to send the cheque to my alternative address. They gave me an enquiry no 5513019670.

When I did not receive the cheque by 8th Jan, I contacted them again to find out about it. They told me the cheque was still with the bank and they were about to send it. Then a new enquiry no was generated, 5513014489, with an assurance that I would get the cheque by 10th Jan. When I had not received the cheque by the evening of 10th, I contacted them again, and they said the same thing, that the cheque was with them. On 12th I contacted them, and they told me the cheque had been delivered to my alternative address on 10th Jan.

They had given me tracking no 40395849896. When I tried to track this courier, I came to know that the cheque was delivered in Hyderabad on 3rd of Jan to some Mr Atul, whom I do not know. I am not able to understand how somebody else can receive my courier on his behalf.

If these people had given me the correct information, I would have done something to receive that cheque.
