Walkefield & Associates
Renews the original date of debt and every month reports negative to credit bureaus

Business & Finance

In june I saw my credit report and Wakefield & Associates reported I had 3 accounts with them. I called them to inquire and receive more info considering I haven't occured any debt for at least the past few years so I had no idea what this was about. The gentleman I spoke with gave me the information and I explained to him that that particular debt was at least 10 years ago and he said it doesn't matter and I still owe. I have lived at my residence for 2 years and have had the same phone number for just as long. Not once have I received any information regarding this debt and then all of a sudden its on my credit report.

After we spoke I politely informed him I need to look into this and he was rude and upset and suggested I pay my debt no matter how far back it is. Ever since then they have reported every single month to the credit bureaus and also the amount of the debt increases monthly by 5$. So now in Dec they not only reported my debt, like they do every month, but they also have been dishonest and reported a change of the date that the debt incurred. They reported the debt incurrred in Dec. Because the statutes of limitations is past I am thinking that's why they changed the date? I do have my lawyer looking into this but I think that people just need to know, this is not the way to collect money and matter of fact, with the way they run their business things might end up being the opposite for them, they might end up being the one who will owe. I understand people have a job to do but I also wonder what kind of training do these companies provide? How to be unethical? Try customer service and provide legal info for them. Being honest and kind and compassionate gets you further.
