Malfunctioning plastic wrap

I have used plastic wrap for over 50 years. It shouldn't be difficult to rip off a piece and place it over the top of a bowl or dish. However, the Up & Up brand from Target is unbelievably tricky. Only one time out of four can I successfully rip some off the roll without it either not wanting to cut, or clumping into a mass that sticks to itself. I usually throw away 2 or 3 clumped-together globs of plastic wrap before I can finally get an acceptable piece with a clean cut. It's not a major purchase, I realize, but this is one Up & Up product I certainly will not purchase again. Thank you.
