Horrible return policy for defective product

I just went to the local Ulta Store. I tried to exchange a $13.00 bottle of water facial spray because the spray was defective and would not work... At all. I thought it would be simple, just swap for a working bottle. I didn't want any money, store credit or anything. I was told that I had to have the receipt, which I probably do somewhere at home, but not with me. They couldn't look it up on their system because it was Sunday and the "system" is closed on Sunday. Even talked with a manager, but to no avail. I have never heard of such a policy where a defective product had to be accompanied by a receipt just for the exchange to a working product. I will never go back!!!
