What happens to a country when a national treasure, an icon of its persona, a stalwart of its culture is bought up by a competitor in another country?

The answer is i dont know. I guess this is how the rest of the word has felt for 50 years as the US has bought up their national cultural brands.

Turns out, it does not feel so good.

It is a travesty that Anheuser Busch has been bought by a company outside the US.

Of course in the big picture we are about more then beer here, and really what is the difference between IBM selling to the Chinese and Budweiser getting sold? Or for that matter any of the deals that happen everyday that bit by bit sell the identity of America to the highest bidder. A devalued dollar, bad debt and lack of credit has put America in the sale rack to be picked over by fat and happy tourists.

Its all the same right?

Well, it is a matter of degree.

Whether you like beer or not, Budweiser is a national establishment and losing it, especially in these times is akin to selling apple pie.

It is hard to imagine how congress can allow this to happen.

What a disgrace.
