Just like the other stories that I have read I was a bit of a victim as well with this company-All Season Travel and Resorts. I recieved a phone call yesterday at work from an american guy, called Morgan, who explained to me that I have won a holiday package for four people to florida, Bahammas, and a resort in mexico.
At first I had no idea what he was talking about because I couldn't remember entering in any compeitions lately. He explained to me that I entered a competition over the internet. When I thought back to it, it was about 2 months ago when I was on the internet and my computer froze and it stated that i was the 100,000 person to visit this site and to enter in my details to enter a holiday competition. I didn't think any thing of it.
Anyways, he began to tell me about the holiday package and to grab a pen and write some of the things down. At first I was a little suspious about it because i never win anything. However, He went into great details of how many nights and days I would be staying in places and what hotels. So the suspious feeling starting going away. He stated asking questions - are you single? Who would you take on the holdiay with you? Are they going to be over 21? Are you a student? Do you have a credit card?
He explained to me that i had to use the trip within 18 months of travelling. And then asked for my credit card details. I asked straight away why he needed them? He stated that it was $8.95 postage and handling for all the package and details to be delivered. I thought it was a little wierd if you have won a competition for four people, why would a company care about such a small amount for postage and handling!
Before giving the details away, I asked Morgan if there was any other costs involved? Because lets face it, nothing is free these days! He explained to me that there is a little catch and that you have to pay 15% of the trip and the company pays the rest of the 85%. But he quickly stated that it was "only $898US" for the four people all together. He said that i didn't need to pay anything today, just the postage and handling, and the package details would be delivered within 14 days.
Unfortunately I gave my credit card details away with not really thinking of what I was doing because he sounded professional and the emotion of winning a holdiay was too great. When I was on the phone they said that my credit card had declined, but I knew that there was enough money in there for $8.95. But I told him that i hadn't paid the bill yet and that it most probably wouldn't be in till tommorrow morning. He said that was fine and that he would call back tommorrow and see if my payment had gone through. The conversion had ended because I had to go back to work.
Once I got home from work I thought that I would go on the internet and check out the company to see what they were all about. And funny enough I found this website and called my credit card company straight away.
That morning of speaking to Morgan there were three transactions that tried to be made, one of $1200, $900 and then one of $600 at the same time. But lucky enough of being a typical uni student and having the lack of funds, no money could have been withdrawn. The credit company cancelled the card straight away and they called the fraud department when I was on the phone. Funny enough, apparently there had been more than a dozen complaints that day about the All Season Travel and Resorts company.
It should be very interesting when Morgan calls back tommorrow to confirm the payment because I will have a couple of things to say to him.
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't have enough money on my credit card so they could draw out continous amounts of money.
Good luck to you all and to those who have lost money to this disgusting All season travel and resorts company!
