5th Avenue Vacations
Vacation rip off

Traveling & Tourism

My husband and I entered a contest to win a free trip to the Bahamas last year and we got selected. What we were told when my husband returned their call was that we won an all inclusive 5 day trip of a one day cruise to a resort in the Bahamas, stay on island for 3 full days then a one day cruise back to port. We were also informed we would have to cover the port fees and other taxes which our first payment to hold the trip would be a total of $199.96 then we would owe one last payment of $238 and that all we would have to pay for after that would be our passport cards which ended up costing up $230 to expedite them. We paid both payments and purchased our passports and when we called to confirm our reservations for Sept 8th the "travel agent" stated that we would be responsible for $75 for parking, $36 per person for "cruise fees" and $237 Per person to UPGRADE to all inclusive which we had already been told it was suppose to already be all inclusive. So in order to have our food, drinks, hotel and cruise fees, and other costs covered we would have to pay an extra $621 for a "FREE TRIP". When we requested our money be refunded that we had paid thus far because we could not afford to pay an extra $621 on top of the $700 we had already paid for a FREE TRIP we were told that the original $199.96 was non refundable and that we would be charged $50 per person for canceling so we would only end up getting around $100 back.

From what I've read online this company is notorious for not refunding people after they cancel and don't return phone calls and people have to go thru their credit card companies to get their money back. We have requested time off of work at both of our jobs for this trip and have spent money on it that we want back.
