I purchased a package online for a birthday gift for my Mom's 60th. My three sisters and I pitched in to purchase this perfect gift for my Mom to go to her favorite place, Isle of Capri in Booneville, Missouri.

After my parents drove 2 hours to check in, the rude front desk person stated they needed her credit card because the card on file was not under her name. Not once did the staff apologize for the confusion or try to satisfy the guest in a frustrating situation. My Mom is the sweetest person, June Cleaver some say, I know she would never say anything to be difficult. Apparently they never charged my card only held the reservation with it, even after I received the confirmation e-mail and then proceeded to call the spa AND the hotel to make sure my Mom didn't have to pay anything - I was reassured that the reservation was paid for but there would have to be a card given at the time of check in JUST for incidentals. Simple mistake that could have been handled so differently. After being embarrassed by the staff and rudely given no choice but to put her card down, my Mom stated, “I think we’ll just go home, thank you” to which the rude front desk lady said, “ok, have a nice night.” I pride myself in my Missouri roots, I live in Los Angeles now and hope that the place I come from didn’t lose their sense of humanity and kindness. Not only did my Mom not get her gift, she is too disappointed to ever return to what was her favorite place on Earth. Simple mistakes can be handled with simple kindness. You will not find this at Isle of Capri in Booneville.
