Insurance Rip-off

If you plan to rent a car in Israel from Eldan... DON'T! On my last visit to Israel, I went to their website, located the car I wanted and chose COMPREHENSIVE insurance rather than mandatory 3rd part liability. When I arrived in Israel and was handed the contract to sign, there was a printed addition: "I hereby the credit card holder of this rental agreement confirm that it is known to me that insurance does not cover primary damage of $545. This excess will be debit to my credit card account in any case of damage or loss of any part of the car including damage to third party"
The agent told me that if I wanted to eliminate the this cost I could do it for an additional payment of about $170. She could not answer my question as to why my "comprehensive" coverage was not comprehensive or why this extra cost was not mentioned on their website. I had no choice but to pay the additional cost, even though it was A TOTAL RIP-OFF!
There is no phone number for customer service on the Eldan website but I got the phone number when I returned the rental car. I called Eldan from the USA, got their e-mail address (www.custserv@eldan.Co. Il) and sent a message to them saying they had presented only two insurance options on their website and even tho I chose comprehensive, I had to pay extra at the airport to ensure comprehensive coverage. After 1 week, followed by another email containing a threat to post my complaint on the Internet, a response came from Not for replay@eldan.Co. Il with only a copy of the signed contract—nothing else. My advice&do not rent a car from eldan!
