One of the worst customer services world-wide - customer service

I am so sick of AVIS world-wide. I have been a preferred member of Avis for some time now. Recently I had a 2 day hire in Melbourne which I booked through my main account. The hire was fine but when I returned the car and got my invoice the price had gone from 170AUD to 290 AUD. I understood the 30AUD extra for tolls which I accept but not the rest. My agreement stated everything was included including TAX, surcharges and all mandatory charges.

I complained by email and got a response saying it would take up to 20 days which for a start is really bad service. Low and behold 20 days later they said I had taken out extra insurance locally which I hadn't as you don't even speak to anybody in Melbourne, your name is on the board and off you go showing your licence to get out.

I pointed all of this out and had no response so today I phoned and got some half baked girl on the phone saying it was my fault as my account states I want extra insurance. I have just checked my account and nowhere does it have any options to add on extra things and even if it did if I get a quote through my account shouldn't it state it!!! She didn't care and said nothing would be done. So my account with Avis is closing now and I have just hired with Hertz for next week.

Unfortunately I lease a car on a 3 year contract with Avis in Singapore and needless to say my car has spent more time in the garage with people saying nothing is wrong, Service here is rubbish too,

So to all people do not hire through AVIS unless you want a shock at the end of your hire...
