Foxwood Family Campground
Unsafe campground

My family went camping at Foxwood Family Campground in the Pocono Mtns.in Pennsylvania. On August 20. We planned on staying 3 nights. As we were setting up our camper in our assigned site we noticed dead trees in all areas of the site. We set up our pop-up and hoped there would be no strong winds. The bath house was very unclean with windows broken out. We had to clean the swimming pool ourselves before using it. There were abandoned campers setting everywhere with wild animals living in and under them. We could make due with the circumstances so far. We've been camping alot and encountered the good and the bad. The second day we woke up, had breakfast, and headed to the nearby waterpark at 10:30 am. A strong thunderstorm came up and they closed the park. We headed back to the campground at 2:30 pm. When we arrived at the site we saw alot of branches from the very dead trees had fallen on our camper putting a hole in the canvas and soaking our bed. I informed Eva at the office about what had happened and asked if they had a patch kit that we could have. She seemed indifferent and did not apologize and said she did'nt know if they had one I should look myself. They did'nt so we had to leave. At around 4:15 pm we packed everything up in the pouring rain and handed in the gate key to Eva and told her we had to leave. I requested that they refund our 2 nights since it was their negligence of the campground that caused us to leave. She said she would talk to the owners and call me. She did call and said (very smugly) they would only refund 1 night because we stayed all day on the 21st and now we want a refund. I was told by Eva (the owners refused to call and talk to me) that I have to go through my insurance (which we don't have on our pop-up) and they would contact theirs, still never apologizing for our completely horrible stay at their FAMILY campground. This campground is obviously owned by slackers who don't care about quality, hospitality, or most importantly the safety of their guests. If they are going to charge money for a site, they need to cut down the very big decaying trees that could fall at any time on people in tents and campers. Someone could have easily been killed in this situation. Please help me warn others about these careless, lazy, unfeeling campground owners. I appreciate your time and consideration. Unhappy Campe
