Traveling & Tourism

My wife and I purchased a Tahiti timeshare like many other families. We do not gamble but had come to Las Vegas to see the exhibit at the MGM Grand. We were intrigued by the presentation.

My wife and I talked about our purchase, and we were elated about our membership in Tahiti Village with all of the promises made. Even of the phase two projection being built, that would be a great investment. At a later date, we were contacted by Tahiti Village and they made us an offer of a free 3 day stay in Las Vegas if we would come back. We met Toni Collins, sales representative of Tahiti Village.

A presentation was offered to us to up grade by Ms Collins. She explained that as an investment we could sell our week, as she was doing. Toni Collins claimed that she was renting her timeshare to NASCAR patrons and Professional Rodeo fans during the conventions for $12000 dollars per week, we could do the same. So like an idiot, we up graded our membership in Tahiti Village.

Upon returning to our home in California I called Ms. Collins and challenged her claims, I explained that I had not found any such profits in the web sites on rentals. She explained that I would not find such sites and reassured me that her claims were in fact valid. Those claims turned out to be false.

Since that time I have had many questions about the truth of the statements that we were promised. We were told, at the time, that it would be a great investment, property values would go up and very little land was available on the strip. A new shopping mall would be built across the street, it was in the planning stage. We have yet to see any construction start after several years. We were told that any loaning institution would finance the property, that turned out not to be true.

We were asked how and where we take our vacations, we answered that most of our vacations where cruises and island hopping. With out hesitation, we were told that our timeshare could be traded for cruises and that Hawaii also could be traded.in fact, we were "given" the opportunity to take 12 cruises a year "buy one get one free".

Since we would be owners of the exclusive Las Vegas property, we could trade one of our weeks for two weeks elsewhere even Hawaii. Those statements was also false. Salespeople at Tahiti stated that we could transfer the timeshare we had purchased for other timeshare locations since we did not gamble. We were later told, due to lack of availability it could not be done. Another false statement.

When contacting Consolidated Properties about our Hawaii vacation, we were on a one for one exchange and we need to have some one in Hawaii that wanted to trade their specific week for one week. Also promised get a way vacations starting at $ 199.00 per week When we were looking for these getaways, none could be found for anything close to that price. Another false statement. Trips can not be used in the manner stipulated during presentation.included in those false promises were free round trip flights. We where blatantly lied to.

I asked at the presentation what fees would be due and if any additional cost. We were told that all we had to pay was the cost of timeshare and yearly HOA dues. We have been billed for transfer fees, and travel exchange fees. We also were billed for maintenance fees and stage II that was not completed for more than 2 years. One year behind schedule.

My wife and I have been victimized by tactics of dishonest sales. Consolidated Resorts misrepresented sales presentations by agents and managers pursuant to NRS119a. 130A at the time of sale by using unfair or illegal business practices
