In November my 82 year old parents ordered two blanket items called Snuggis from a TV telemarketing ad. During that transaction, they were duped into accepting a "free trial" from UMG. Due to some issues with the initial order, we were expecting a refund from the vendor and upon examining their credit card statement, we found two charges for $19.95 with UMG as the recipient of the payments. They had not knowingly authorized these transactions.
An internet search turned up this web site and the issues others have had with the company. I contacted the company through one of the 800 numbers available and complained of the methods used by the telemarketers. They removed my parents from the subscriptions and refunded their money with no argument.
During the discussion they stated that they could not control their "telemarketing partners". The ease with which they refunded our money (yet to be confirmed), implies that this happens frequently.
