We recieved a notice in the mail and were told we had a chance to win a new car and to be eligible we would need to be at a hotel at a certain time. When we arrived we were invited into a room with others and a speaker began discussing travel discounts and a travel club called OBA. We were told that if we signed up we would recieve a free trip to Cancun.
When we did sign up and paid over 3000.00 for a life time club membership which promised great travel discounts and one week vacation a year anywhere in the world in one of their affiliated travel destinations, we went to redeem the certificate they gave us for the Cancun vacation and they said we needed to pay 200.00 fee. We sent them a cashier's check for the vacation and they returned it and denied the certificate using some excuse that it had expired.
We paid dues last year to keep the membership active and when we tried to access their website or call their reservation numbers they are all shut down. We have never been able to use this travel club for any travel benefits. Although they looked and acted like a legitimate travel agency, I beleive they were a sham from the start.
It seems like they have gone all over the country selling this fake travel club... Like a timeshare... But at least with a time share you end up with a deed to something... With his we got nothing for our money, these people should be put in jail for committing fraud against decent citizens.
