On 5/6/06 I used my credit card to order airline tickets from Southwest Airlines.
On 5/24/06 and from then on every month my card was billed by shopperdiscount.com Phone 800-889-8776 out of Norwalk Connecticut for $9.00 on the 24th of each month.
And by
Reservationrewards 800-732-7031 out of Norwalk Connecticut for $10.00 on the 29th of each month.
When calling their numbers, the same message, apparently done by the same voice allowed me to cancel the service.
I signed nothing requesting either of these services.
When I made an accounting of my card accounts I discovered this, but never recalled ordering any service from either of these companies. When I called American Express, they were able to tell me that if I had inadvertently checked a box asking for discounts on my airline tickets, I had automatically signed up for these services. They suggested I notify you about these companies. I consider this a major rip off. Such a scam should not be allowed, but apparently it is perfectly legal.
I would like to know if these companies are in any way associated with Southwest Airlines or other airlines and why they do not prevent this from happening on their website. I would also like to know if others have had similar problems or if a class action lawsuit is pending against these companies.
