Manipulates paperwork to make them rich, you poo

Traveling & Tourism

My husband and I bought the Tahiti Village Timeshare [every other year] back in late 06. At first we were denied credit as we went there just for the free perks, but they conned us into having some "magic paperwork" done.
[We both had bad credit scores and high DTI ratios]. The only paperwork we got at "closing" was a copy of the HUD, not a deed or any contract.

It is now a little over a year later, and financially we have hit rock bottom, with me being out of work. My husband has to work 80 hours a week, and we still can't make ends meet. We are behind on all bills.

We actually have 3 timeshares, but Tahiti Village is the worst& I just had to pay over $1300 to catch up on past due bills a good prtion of that was for 2-1 time fees - a transfer fee, and a general fund fee. [Mind you, I have every other year, and I've never even used this! ]

For being only 2 days late on a payment, I get harassing phone calls& and I made the mistake to answer one of them—only to tally up the calls in 1 day to over 11. Yes, 11 calls in 1 day. I have explicilty told them they were calling a cell phone number and my work number [which is true, I do not have a land line], yet I still get calls. I have "spiked" them about 85% of the time [answering then hanging up] so [hopefully] when I get my cell phone bill they will be documented.

We have tried giving these back [we own at Grandview Resorts as well— a week that we can't use because we can't get off from work that time of year—it's State Fair time—] Not only would Grandview not give us another week, but neither of these companies will just take their property back—they can keep the $ I have invested— we just want out. They won't do that. We will be taken to court for being in default, and having to pay the difference between what is owed and what they can re-sell the poperty for. [Not good—I've seen both of these on eBay for 1 cent each and not sell]

Just paying for these comes out to about $700/month that we can not afford. Being government workers, we have to keep these out of foreclosure, or risk losing our job[s].

So, buyer beware! You can get much better vacation deals online with a little research—you can even be a "proud" owner of a timeshare by purchasing a resale. Never ever buy retail& if you can't afford it— they will find a way.
