Disneyland Park
Overcrowded Unsafe Unfriendly employees Misleading

Traveling & Tourism

First of all, I used to live in Anaheim, so I've been going to Disneyland all of my life. It used to be an enjoyable experience until recently. We went just a few days ago and we couldn't believe how overcrowded it was for a semi-cold day in February. It is now so overcrowded that you must wait an average of an hour to wait for each ride; also, you can hardly walk or find a place to sit or eat. We even had to wait about twenty minutes to get a drink. The entire place just REEKS of consumerism, and every company has its hands in this place. Everywhere you go they're selling something that "ties in" with the rides. For example, overpriced pineapple juice by the Tiki Room. Good God.

Not to mention, the food is also so expensive! We had lunch at the Mexican eatery, where everything is mostly self-serve anyway, and with only two modest dishes it cost upwards of $30.00! Suffice to say, that was the last time we ate there.

I told my husband that eventually, they're going to HAVE to limit the number of people allowed on a given day because it's unsafe! Can you imagine what would happen if there was an emergency? People would be trampled to death! My husband scoffed and said, "Are you kidding? With Will Eisner at the helm, who is going to do that? All he cares about is money!" I totally agree. I am not kidding when I say that we couldn't even walk or find a place to sit! It was absolutely the worst I have ever seen. All one could see for miles was people avoiding hitting eachother and mothers pushing strollers and double-strollers while the babies are crying (why bring children of this age here? It only stresses them out and they don't know what's going on).

Also, we avoided several rides mostly because of the deaths involved regarding derailed trains and that sort of thing. I heard this happened most recently at Big Thunder and Space Mountain. It's ridiculous when you have to avoid rides because of accidents and deaths that occurred frequently, and frankly, I find it absolutely morbid and disturbing.

The ticket seller also mislead us and told us we could re-use our ticket within 30 days, and when we tried to re-enter the next day, a very rude and crotchety old woman admonished us. I got really mad and grabbed the tickets back from her. We complained to the ticket people who said that what we were told wasn't true, and that the ticket could only be used at the lame California Adventure Park for the second entry. My husband asked if we could have a refund, and the old and crotchety ticket seller (another one) said we could enter Disneyland again if we "only paid $60.00" more. What?! I can't believe how CHEAP Disneyland is with all the money it makes!

I also hate the way they ruined the Pirates ride with making it all about Jack Sparrow. How could they do such a thing? In addition, they also changed The Haunted Mansion and have made the focus of everything mostly around the Pirates movie tie-in and Tim Burton.

I really hate Disneyland now, even though I will always have a fond memory of the way it used to be a long time ago.
