This resort is very attractive and somewhat affordable but if you are at all concerned about your family's safety, stay somewhere else. This is why.

The views are nice but they didn't install safety glass when the resort was renovated a few years ago. Current law require safety glass but the Sheraton used a loophole to save money. There have been numerous guest injuries from these windows breaking into large, sharp shards upon impact. One guest nearly had her leg completely severed off. Running children are especially at risk.

Concerned about fire safety? Well, if there's smoke or fire to set off the alarm system, you won't know about it. Even if a pull box is activated the system won't sound a warning. The resort got the fire department to allow them to program a delay into the system so guests won't be disturbed by false alarms.

In another cost saving effort they decided that the guests' security was secondary to profits. To save money they no longer have a professional, dedicated security director. Since they cut back security, theft from guest rooms has skyrocketed, there have been guests robbed at gunpoint on the property and a housekeeper was recently arrested for raping a guest.

There pool's giant waterslide is a major feature for the resort but there are complaints everyday from guests who hurt their back on the shoddy, uneven slide. Beware! You could go home from your vacation at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa in stitches, burned, shot or in traction. Have fun!
