Such a Beautiful Place to be Such a Bad Place to Stay. The Local Bar Drunks Run The Place ripoff

We traveled to Charleston, SC in March with some friends for a weekend get away. We checked in on Thursday March 15th. This Hotel was nice in the lobby area and the grounds well kept outside. After check in we went to our rooms and after the long drive from the mountains of NC we decided to get a late dinner and relax. The clerk at the front desk recommended a restaurant close by. We walked to the restaurant and notice all the bars in the area. This is fine to have a choice but it seemed like a lot for such a small area.

After dinner we turned in. About 2:30 am we were woke up by someone banging on our door and screaming at the top of their lungs. We were absolutely scared to death. We weren't sure if the Hotel was on fire or if someone was going to rob and kill us we just didn't know. We yelled back at them and they ran away. We called the front desk and they sent security up. Security was the guy we saw earlier that evening taking out the garbage.

I guess when times are slow you combine some jobs or something? While we were talking to the security Guard or the trash man? This guy came out of his room down the hall with a beer in his hand. The the security/trash man went down to talk with the local bar drunk and we went back in our room.

We never did go back to sleep that morning, needless to say that ruined our next day of sight seeing at beautiful Charleston. We were so tired it was hard to even enjoy the day. With a 3 day Vacation, if you loose 1 day you are cut short a lot in my book of thing to do.

The next night we visited the Hotel's Restaurant to treat our friends who were with us to dinner for their anniversary. Our drinks were in plastic dixie cups and our bill was $241.00 need I say more about that deal. I complained to the front desk when we checked out about the room incident but the lady never really acknowleged my complaint, maybe a I'm sorry.

I've filed a complaint by e-mail and even filed a complaint with the BBB of Columbia SC who handles the Charleston area. They told me that Holiday inn had done everything they could to resolve the issue of our stay and the case of #1997684. The Manager at Holiday Inn at Folly Beach told BBB, "he had no record of me staying there". I even sent documents from my bank showing were my account had been debitted for room and restaurant. Of course he wouldn't show record of a complaining customer.

I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone, unless you are a big drinker or a party goer. Such a beautiful Place to be so shotty run.
