Ripoff, theft ripoff liars victimized us

My father, husband, and I stayed at this place for 12 nights.

We paid with travelers checks. When we returned home, I had a message on the answering machine from a lady in Fort Walton, who had recieved a check for $350 and wanted to know if we had wrote it. I checked my check book and noticed I had three checks missing. I called the lady back and she told me that a girl had given her this check for her rent, and said her uncle gave it to her. She gave me the girls name, and my husband called the motel and asked for this girl and she did work there. He then called and talked to the manager, Mr. Berry, and explained the situation. He asked if we had filed a report, and we could not since we were back in TN. We gave him the phone number of the lady the check had been written to.

We went to our bank and did a stop payment on all three checks and my husband filed a forgery paper on the one check that had been signed in his name.
I wrote Mr. Berry a formal letter, and sent him a copy of the check and also gave him the phone number of our bank to call and verify what we had done.

We have not heard a reply back from Mr. Berry, and don't even know if the girl was terminated!
Also, on the fourth night we were there, a girl on the first floor, we were told by the staff, her room was broken into, and beaten and raped. So I felt very safe there!

We spent almost $1,600 to stay at this kind of a rip off, unsafe place! Mr Berry's reply on the phone to this was there are signs in the room saying they are not responsiable for stolen items (which we never saw and were in two different rooms.) So that makes it ok for there establishment to hire thieves!
