Ripoff, made flight credits impossible to use

I had purchased airline tickets on cheaptickets to be used March 22. An emergency arose and the trip had to be canceled. I called their customer care number and was told they were non-refundanle but I would have a credit of $429.40 to be used within 1 year. I received an email stating the same.

September 30 I called to use this credit and was told by Cheaptickets.com I needed to call the airline which the original tickets were booked under to receive this credit. I then called the airline only to be told they had NO record of any tickets issued under any of the ticket numbers or record locater number provided by cheaptickets.com

October 2 I called cheaptickets.com and told them that the airline had nothing matching any of their information and was tired of getting the run around and wanted this taken care of. The customer care person at cheaptickets finally found the credit and asked what flight would I like to use it on, I said I needed a flight from Seattle to LasVegas on 12/14 returning 12/15. She said hold please and when she came back on the line said the tickets less the credit would be over $2,000.00 I just laughed.

She then said what flight would you like to use it on I gave her information right from their site and she quoted a price of $509.98 and that was with the credit. I was looking right at their sight and the price was $522.78 plus there was a $50.00 cheaptickets fee plus a $200.00 airline change fee. Making the flight total $772.78 then I subtracted my credit of $429.40 for a total of $343.38.

I gave her those numbers and was told oh yeah that price is for a new reservation only. I said what do you mean and again I was told that price was for a new reservation only.

So I told her that they were making it impossible to use the credit and I would not ever do business with cheaptickets ever again.

I found this all quite disturbing, that the airline had no record of these tickets being issued by cheaptickets.com and then cheaptickets not allowing you to use your credit online and that their agents give you unreal, inflated prices.

Buyer beware if you plan on using cheaptickets.com
