Travel Agents Direct
Identity theft, product scam Via Telephone

Traveling & Tourism

This company called on my cell phone, said I had won a free trip and $400 worth of airline vouchers because I used my checking account at one of their participating merchants. The first time they called, they wanted me to set up a password using the place of my birth, they would not accept a different password, nor would they mail the info without. I declined and asked that they not call again. They called three more times the following days - I did not answer. On the fourth attempt, they again said this was a legitimate contest, the operator gave me her employee ID number and then wanted to verify my checking account. She wanted me to give her my bank and checking account number. When I said "no, I do not give out that information over the phone as I have already been a victim of identity theft", she hung up.

The telephone number does not connect you to any real person, but it does say you can opt out of their "great savings programs".

This is a scam. I have reported it to the police department here in Phoenix and they have them noted but cannot do anything about it since I was smart enough not to give out the information and thus have not been directly harmed.
