Fun Club Cozumel
Funclubcozumel is a rippoff vacation club! In mexico!

We were in Cozumel, April 3-9, and had a great time, to stay at our club that we purchased on Feburary 21st 2001 by recommendation of a freind,: (Fontan Beach Club Hotel. This sight was being refurbished with master suites for 1-4 persons, and presidential suites for 4-6 persons. We had a two hour tour, lunch, and a presentation about becoming a member of "Vacations & Travel de Mexico, S.A.De C.V.", a discount travel and vacation service company. We upgraded from the Master Suites to the Presedetial Suites the lifetime membership is $11,680 plus $59 per year, for 180 weeks of VIP Vacations, for any place in the world, for 99 years.
At that time there seem to be no trouble until July of last year when we tried to make plans for next year in April to stay. There all of a sudden no web site and no one answering the phones at the FonTan Hotel. WE wrote emails, made telephone calls, and thought the worst. WE GOT RIPPED OFF!!! From reading the time-share deal on the internet, it sounds like the Sol Caribe Hotel site, that went bankrupt. And we also ran into the http://www.cozumelfanclub.com web site that explained another story much similar to ours.

We are now told that the Hotel Fontan is shut down completly for 18 months at that we have to stay at the Coral Princess. Well a freind of ours went down their about a week ago and founf out they never made reservations for him there, and that he had to pay for his room and board first, then almost demand that the club re-imburse him for the FREE Drinks everyday he had with his normal membership, and for most of his food cost plus the room cost. All they paid for was his room and $200 credit towards everything else. So he lost money.!! So we made reservations also with the funclub for april 14th to the 21st of April. They confirmed our reservations at the coral Princess. Well we got smart and emailed the coral princess and was told there were no reservations in our names ever. We then asked them if the FunClub was buying the Coral Princess as Richard Notel has told us, and they said no, and they did not know why the funclub was telling such things to people. (We later found out we were not the only others he's been telling this to). Needless to say we are very dissappointed and feel really screwed. Our share eeven though I talked them down to $8360.00 is still alot of money!!!

The Fontan Beach Club is to change its' name to Fun Beach Club Cozumel. Another address on the forms, shows: 705 Martens Ct; PMB 93-202; Laredo, TX 78041-6010 USA.

Their website shows to be: http://www.funclubcozumel.com ; or was (Till they got kicked off for non payment of the Web site's monethly fees according to host) which does not exists, as far as I can find out! (My notes). There new web site is now http://cozumel-mx.com/funclub.

Our VIP Representative was: Richard Notel (Last name is questionable, as he is suppose to be a dual citizen, USA & Mexico), born and raised in Las Vegas, NV; Being a white male, age 38-39 years old; brown hair with sky blue/gray eyes, approximately 6'3" tall and weighing about 180.

The Customer Service Representative at Fun Club Cozumel (Fontan Hotel) was Alexandra Aguilera, And Lana.

The Verification Officer was Raul Flores, so he said, but that does not look like what he signed.

This company claims not to be a "Time-Share", and is not affiated nor represents "Resorts Condominiums International (RCI) or Interval International (II)".

We were given a separate sheet listing the assets and etc. Of "Guillermo Guerra Cordero", who is suppose to be the main financial backer.

The local Mexican that put us on to this scam was in the El Cozumeleno Hotel, renting jeeps and tours.
