Beware. Western Horizon Resorts is American Adventure Resorts under a different name. We purchased our first motor home in 1984. Our neighbors suggested we go to an American Adventure presentation in Temecula, CA.

The membership SOUNDED like a good idea. Temecula being our home park. We paid $5500 (one day only price) for the membership. Maintenance fees being $328 a year. We moved to AR for five years. They transferred our home park to someplace in TX. The closest AAR (American Adventure Resorts) to our location.

While in AR, we received a letter stating AAR was having financial problems and for another $1000 we could own a share in the company. And help bail them out. After investing the original $5500, we couldn't see NOT sending in the money. THEN we received a letter saying AAR had filed for bankruptcy.

We were notified that Western Horizon Resorts had purchased AAR and we were saved. Same CO location, main office.in 1992 we moved "home" to Prescott Valley AZ. WHR transferred our home park to Desert Pools Resort in Desert Hot Springs CA, even though WHR Camp Verde is only 30 miles from our home. Desert Pools is only open 3 months a year.in 1997 we contacted Camp Verde and drove over to talk to them. For ONLY another $4000 they would upgrade our membership and make Camp Verde our home park. That is the only way they would transfer our home park. After all the money we had paid into AAR $6500 $328 maintenance increased to $358 a year for 13 years, we told them what they could do with their membership.

ONE of the pluses of the camp ground membership was Coast to Coast. We joined a small park in Tennessee that we will never visit to have to Coast to Coast membership. NOW we are considering letting that lapse also. The parks are not convenient and most would be rated with ONE star by Woodall's.

Now I read on the net WHR is now trying to sell out. I'm sure they are trying to milk current members for money the way we were, when they were AAR.

We recently stayed at Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch. WHR has it rated as "Deluxe". Granted we stayed late in the season and a lot of the ammenities were not available, but that does not excuse the condition of the park. The site we were assigned was so unlevel, our right rear wheels were 12" off of the ground and an 18" drop to the ground from our bottom step. A WHR member in the space next to us was not any better off. This is how they treat members?

I should also mention, while staying at Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch, we made a trip into Gunnison for shopping. The office with WHR on the windows, is EMPTY!

Western Horizoin Resorts is a Ponzi Scheme. No doubt about it.
