In January I signed a one year, 100 class contract for kickboxing. I was offered no other class options and before signing the contract, I asked the manager about cancellation options. I explained that I may have to attend an eight month out-of-state training or that I may be moving out-of-state before the contract ended. I asked if there were class extensions for training and refunds for moving... She stated "yes" and we would work something out. I signed the contract thinking the company was flexible and willing to work with individual needs.

Nine months into the contract and only twenty classes used, I was sent to out-of-state training which lasts eight months. Five months later, I found out I would be moving to another state approximately 1000 miles away.

I contacted Absolute Martial Arts, explaining my situation and was told the contract had ended and the only option was a class extension; even at 1000 miles away. I explained I was only looking for a partial refund on the three months I was in training which amounted to approximately twenty five classes rather than the eighty I had not used. I was told there was a "No Refund Policy." Why was I told otherwise before signing the contract?

Absolute Martial Arts has proved to be more concerned about money than about individual needs and customer satisfaction. If they had been upfront and honest in the beginning, I would never have signed a "No refund Policy" contract knowing I would be moving. The manager should stand-up and take responsibility for her mistake whether it was intentional or not. If nothing else, their "No Refund Policy" should be changed to reflect individual neeeds. Would they tell an individual recently dismembered in an accident that although they could no longer participate, class extension was an option?
