After reading an ad on a writer's website, I emailed Carol Wheeler at Mexconnect (mexconnect.com) with a story idea. Wheeler immediately replied, asked to me write the article and listed their rates. She said she looked forward to working with me.

I submitted the story. Per her request, I sourced 18 photos and wrote captions for them. Wheeler again replied immediately. She said my photos were "excellent" and my article was "great". She said the article would appear on the site "shortly".

Two months passed and my article didn't appear, so I wrote to her to ask if it would be appearing soon. No reply. I e-mailed again six months later. No reply. It's been about a year and I've received no payment or reply.

Wheeler's contact information is a little odd, with a US mailing address—looks like it might be a mail drop address— and Mexican telephone number.
