Wal-mart Worldwide - Employees, Communities, and Vendors Beware

Wal-mart continues to be an Anti-worker, Un-American company that abuses it's employees around the world. They are terribly anti-union and exploitive of workers and suppliers. Walmart and the Waltons have never been the "nice" people that they protray themselves to be.
I do recognize that Wal-mart is probably unstoppable. One concern however, is what will happen to their low prices once they have driven out all other competitors such as small localized Mom and Pop Stores, competing chains.

Beware:

Vendors, you may not be paid, Wal-mart may try to evade paying you for services rendered, and products delivered. They may then try to refute your bill, get you to accept less than the full amount. You may have to take them to court.

Facts:

K-Mart seems on the verge of bankruptcy. I don't think Target is in very good shape.

Wal-mart destroys four or five jobs for every one that it creates.

Wal-mart monitors this site with it's internet propaganda arm (some 200 employees???). Look at the rebuttals that will soon follow criticisms of them.

Good news:
Many communities and I think the State of Vermont has banned Wal-mart from entering into business there!

The State of Washington has now prohibited Wal-mart from self administering Workman's Compensation Claims because of it's flagrant abusive of workers.

The courts have become increasingly aware of the stonewalling and abuse of power by Wal-mart and are ruling favorably for abused workers and vendors.

What can you do?
Support union efforts should they arise by Wal-mart workers in your community. Alert your city council and county legislatures to be pro-active in dealing with Wal-mart. Be supportive of competition. Remember, Wal-mart does NOT always have the lowest price.
