DrivingRecord.com
Internet Drivers License research company supplies little if any valid information and does no real research that you can't get online yourself

Shops, Products, Services

Because I was offered a position with an airline, I needed to complete an extensive 10-year background application. One of the things I needed to list was the date and location of any vehicle moving violations I had within the last 10 years (who the heck remembers those???)

Because the process for individuals to get that information from state DMVs takes weeks, I thought that this online drivers license research company might be a way to get it a little faster. WRONG!

In my case, I had moved from Michigan to Maryland at one point, and was given a license in Maryland with the same number as the one in Michigan. Apparently they use the same numbering system.

I submitted two requests to DrivingRecord.com, indicating the correct state and license number on each. I got back a report for the Michigan license that listed my prior address and an entry indicating that the license was expired. I KNOW that I had a speeding ticket in Michigan sometime in 1997, so DrivingRecord.com didn't do their research. Believe me, if my insurance company knows I had a ticket in 1997, it's there!

Anyway, after waiting two more days and not getting the Maryland report, I sent their customer service an email (there's no address or phone number given, folks) asking why. What I got back was an email stating "You have given us the same exact DL # for both states. This is not possible. For Maryland is in-correct."

I replied to the email, stating that it WAS possible, in fact I had both expired licenses in my posession, and they did indeed have the same number.
What I got back from that was another email: "NO". (how's that for succint?)

Now, I have two charges of $29.95 on my credit card, for information that I probably could've gotten myself doing a People Search.

This company CANNOT be doing real license checks. Beware the fine print on the submission form indicating "DrivingRecord.com makes no warranties, express or implied, as to the merchantability, fitness for a particular use or purpose... May not be 100% complete or accurate."
