Southwest Credit
Deceptive phone practices

Shops, Products, Services

Today I called Southwest Credit to pay a debt I had which was legit. I told the gentleman I wanted to satisfy the debt of $66.63 which I had with AT&T Mobility. Not a problem, my debt I can pay. After I gave him my debit card information, he said "Oh by the way you do know there is a 10.00 convenience fee" I told him I was not aware of that and told him that all the info I received in the mail concerning the debt never mentioned it.

If fact my letter shows Principal $56.47 and a collection fee of $10.00. No problem with the $10.00 they have to make their money. He told me it was against the law for them to mention the convenience fee in the letter. I told him fine I'll just get on line and pay it. He said I'll still be charged a convenience fee so I said o.K. Tear up my debit card number I'll just mail it in. He said let me see if I can waiver the fee down to $5.42 I think was the amount. I told him no. He said hold on. So he turned the phone over to his female supervisor and she told me the same thing. I told her no way was I gonna be charged a convenience fee. She told me I sure was. Again I told her I will mail it off and it's no problem for me to drive to the post office.

The longer we talked, she was getting rude and short with me. She did tell me she was not goanna argue with me. I told her your right, I'm not gonna pay the $10.00 convenience fee.in the end they waived the fee.

However looking at my online banking statement I see there are two debits. One for 67.42 and one for. 10. I think they are using strong arm tactics and I'm not gonna put up with this. I want what ever license they have pulled.
