Claudia Ortega She sold me a defective Great Dane

I bought a European Great Dane puppy from a breeder in Laredo, Tx. She is supposed to be a breeder of European Danes. I bought a puppy from a breeding between Napoleon Von Schlesien and Mailie Von Schlesien. My Puppy was bought on Full breeding rights with the intention of using her in my breeding program when she was of age.

My Dane is now 6 months old. She had an incident which resulted in surgery. The vet found out that she had a genetic defect, So she is not breedable. She has Calvarial Hyperostosis and Craniomandibular Osteopathy. I contacted Claudia, who is the breeder, and told her my vet findings. She went on to say that she was sorry this happened and to send her a report and pictures. Which I did in the evening.

She later called me back and said she was again sorry but she only covers LIFE threatening Genetic Defects. That she has had people before call her about Genetic Defects in her lines and she was still breeding them. How can someone breed these Danes and still be able to sleep at night knowing that she is not bettering the breed but to only line her pockets.

I have spent thousands of dollars to save my Great Dane and thanks to breeders like Claudia I will not be able to do what I have always wanted to do and that is to better the breed through Aurora's Lines. But now I can take this as a lesson learned and that is to let people know about this breeder who does not love the breed as I do.

I am not the only one who has been ripped off by this breeder. There are puppies on Puppyfind that have been posted by the owners who have found out about this breeder and are trying to find pet homes only for their Danes that carry genetic defects from these breedings.
