Ripoff

My husband purchased a necklace as a new mom gift for me after the birth of our daughter (5 years ago), he made the payments as required. The final payment - which we paid in full was 1 day late in their office - due to mail delay. They had started sending us late payment fees, eventually totalling more than $180.00 (mind you, this was a $100.00 necklace).

Finally, I wrote them a letter, copied in the BBB in our state, I offered to pay the 1 month late fee of $20.14 and call it a day. They agreed to this, sent me a payoff letter and cleared their name with the BBB, however 5 years later - they are stating with the credit bureaus that my husband is in debt to them $182.00 for the outstanding balance. I have yet to get this resolved with them again.

But knowing this, I wanted to share with anyone interested that if you are in doubt, always send your payoff info to the three major credit bureaus to be sure that they are all updated with your current info and they will work with the companies to assure the information is updated on your credit report.

Fingerhut has not heard the last from us - this is guaranteed! And the worst part of this... The necklace was SO CHEAP that it tarnished!!
