Ripoff - 2003 was the first time i attended. I got my church to donate $495.00 and other sponsers. The way things was done i knew someting was wrong. They lied

My church and other sponsers helped me go to this contest. My sister and i busted our buts to get the rest of the donation at the last minute, just for me to go. I thought it was alot to put out for a contest but wanted to see what it was about.

I saw first hand when i was there that something wasn't right. I saw it was a scam. They tell you in the letter you where chosen poet of the year or whatever but everyone received the same exact awards.

Another thing in the letter they said check if you wanted a free booth to sell you items, yet everyone did not get a booth.

Also at the contest they said the poems must be 21 lines are less and sveral people who won the lines where too long. I took notes. Even the winners poem was too long. My sister said the same thing.

Not because i did not win, but because fair is fair and we came back to charleston and told them they were not fair. The trophies and medalloins we received we all paid for with the money we paid for registration.

At $495.00 per poet and $295. Oo per guest, yes, i had already realized it was a rip off and decided i was not coming back.

We did not even receive the free book they promised. I feel we need to all get together and complain and maybe even bring a lawsuit, because this is not fair. Especially when my church and sponsers was taken advantage of.

They will not see me at anymore contest or receive anymore of my poems. If i find they published any of my poems in a book especially now i now this is a scam i will personally sue them.
