Website package complaint

Shops, Products, Services

This company called me over a period of many months, sometimes twice a week, telling me that my website had serious problems and that I badly needed their services to improve the traffic to my website. After learning how high their prices were, I told them I could not afford it. The cheapest "package" they offered was $1200.00. They continued to bombard me with phone calls, and finally said they had changed their policies due to the bad economy, and would accept monthly payments of $200.00. I told them I still could not afford this. They called numerous times after this, saying that I was crazy not to sign up with them, because they said that if I did, traffic to my site would increase exponentially and that I would then easily be able to afford their services. I agreed to this. I am not that computer savvy, and I believed the many, many lies they told me. I signed their contract. For the first week or so they called me a couple times to "consult' on my website, but the ridiculous things they stressed were small cosmetic details about my site, such as the color of a thin border, or whether a paragraph was in italics. They tried to convince me that these were important parts of their efforts on my behalf, but these were all subjective changes that I were of zero value. They promised that they would send me periodic statements about the work they were doing for me (never happened). They promised they would call me often to keep fine tuning my site (never happened). They solicited information from me, such as keywords, etc. To use to get more traffic to my site. The info they wanted seemed very odd to me, they wanted keywords that had nothing to do with me business, and ignored the important keywords that mattered. They said they would continuously follow up on this process (never happened).in fact the only times after the first two months they ever called me was when I was late on a payment. Of course then they could not stop calling me. They promised that they would get my site on the first page in a google search for my services (I sell gem and mineral specimens at www.theadamscollection.com). Month after month I checked to see if this was happening, and absolutely nothing ever did. Traffic to my site actually decreased during the time they were supposedly working for me. When I called to complain about this, they told me that it could take months to get the traffic to my site increased, and to be patient. However, this is NOT what they told me when they were trying to get me to sign up, they promised almost immediate results. After making 5 payments of $200.00 I realized that I was being scammed. They had not followed through on anything whatsoever that they had promised. I refused to send the last payment, and of course the phone calls started again. I told them in no uncertain terms how pissed I was, and that they would not receive another dime from me. They then sent me a contract to terminate the original contract. I refused to sign it, because it absolves them of any liability. This is where it stands now. They claim to have a money back guarantee, but this is just another lie. I intend to follow every possible avenue to get my thousand dollars back, including, but not limited to trying to gather others who have been similarly ripped off to join in a class action lawsuit. I have since learned that hundreds of others have been scammed by this company in a manner very similar to mine, the same promises, the same lies.
