Last December, I mailed my monthy payment to MCI as I have regularly done. The next month, it hadn't been credited to my account. When I called them, they said that they'd "research" it, and call me back with the results within 3 to 5 business days. After two weeks of waiting and no response, I attempted to switch to Qwest. Nobody at MCI bothered to tell me that they put a block on my account, thus making a switch impossible. Needless to say, my phone was shut off, even though they never responded to my request to research my previous months payment.

I had recently applied to go to school abroad, and REALLY needed a phone to check my pending application. Through the next couple of weeks I scrimped and saved what little I had after tuition books and paid off my entire balance. The customer service associate told me that my phone would be turned on in 3 to 5 working days. All was well. Or so I thought...

Two weeks later, my phone was still not in service. When I called back, the associate told me that she needed an additional $15, but told me not to worry and that my phone would be turned on in 3 to 5 woking days.

The following week I was still phoneless! I called them again and requested my phone to be reconnected. The lady told me that it would be no problem, since I had a credit balance of $15!! And the estimated wait time for my new phone service? You guessed it, 3 to 5 working days.

Any reasonable person might have been upset, but I've always believed that everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt. So I called MCI yet again. He told my that not only was my phone service still not scheduled to be on, but they gave my number away!!! All
of my financial-aid documents, checks, and study abroad applications had that phone number!!! It's now been almost three months since I've had a phone, and thanks to MCI, I'll probably never know if I got accepted to
the study abroad program.
